Business owners urged to attend free event

A free event is being held for shop and company owners to find out more about a new scheme designed to drive down business crime.

South Worcestershire Community Safety Partnership is officially launching its new business crime scheme at the Guildhall in Worcester on Wednesday 23 September at 6pm, but business owners can drop in anytime between 5pm and 8pm.

The partnership has recently appointed two new rural and business crime liaison officers to specifically target issues affecting rural communities and businesses across Malvern Hills District, Worcester City and Wychavon District.

The project is being paid for from a £1.5million fund made available by Bill Longmore, West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner, who has made tackling business and rural crime a priority.

The partnership has made reducing shoplifting, business burglaries and raising awareness of business crime as its top priorities over the next 12 months.

During the event Andy Champness, from the police and crime commissioner's office, and a senior officer from within South Worcestershire Police, will set out how they intend to achieve the targets.

Those attending will be able to watch demonstrations of a range of products and services designed to protect their business while they will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a CCTV system.
