Ex-Dytecna staff find their future with Morgan cars
A FORMER Dytecna worker who lost her job when the company went into administration four months ago, is now looking to the future after finding a new position with Morgan Motor Company.
Hollie Norman, who had worked for the firm for 15 years, was among 60 staff made redundant as a result of the decision.
Recognising the significance of the situation, Malvern Hills District Council acted swiftly to issue a rallying call to companies to help find new jobs locally for the highly skilled Dytecna workforce.
In total 19 businesses in Malvern came forward offering 27 job opportunities collectively. Among them was Morgan Motor Company which has now recruited Hollie as a production planner after she spotted the job advertised online.
Hollie said: "It was all new to me having to look for a job after such a long time and it was a bit daunting at first. The help Malvern Hills District Council offered was very useful and I sent out a lot of speculative CVs based on those job opportunities.
"I've been here about a month now and I'm really enjoying working for Morgan. There's a lot to learn but I'm getting there."
Steve Morris, Morgan's managing director said: "A car is a complex thing to make but Hollie brings a fresh pair of eyes and the opportunity to interrogate our processes and look at the the way we assemble and manufacture our vehicles. Plus, it's always nice to employ local people as and when you can."
Simon Smith, head of economic development at Malvern Hills District Council, added: "The response to our call to help keep the skills of Dytecna staff in the district was overwhelming, with Morgan Cars being the first to come forward to say they wanted to help. It's fantastic news that thanks to Morgan we are keeping Hollie's valued skills here in the district to keep our economy thriving."
Local businesses interested in promoting job opportunities to Dytecna staff should email the economic development team on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01684 862151, with a brief outline of job titles, the roles that need filling and any contact details or website address for CVs or applications.
