Great Malvern Exhibition Walk Launched

PHOTOGRAPHY, poetry and artwork are set to appear on the streets of Great Malvern following the launch of a new scheme.

The Great Malvern Exhibition Walk sees 25 display cases installed along Church Walk and outside Waitrose supermarket featuring a collection of work by local artists and community groups. Everything from poetry to the results of a school painting competition could be on show and each exhibition will run for about four months.

The scheme is inspired by the success of a recent photographic exhibition in the same area by Beacon Camera Club and the desire for more permanent outdoor exhibition space.

The project has been developed by Great Malvern Association of Traders and Malvern Hills District Council with support from the Elmley Foundation and Pulse Great Malvern.

Chris Marks, from Great Malvern Association of Traders, said: "The previous photo exhibition has been hugely popular and the feedback we have received has been fantastic. As a thank you to Beacon Camera Club, we wanted to offer the club use of the display cases for the first exhibition. We hope that this will inspire other local artistic and community groups to use the space to put on exhibitions."

"We also hope that the exhibition walk will encourage people to explore our beautiful town centre with its great range of shops, cafes and restaurants".

Ian Thompson, Chairman of Beacon Camera Club, said: "Our exhibition is a collection of winning images from the Camera club's competitions. We had a terrific response and lots of interest and new members following the original exhibition and hope for the same again this time. If anyone would like to find out more about Beacon Camera Club they can visit our website at".

Simon Smith, Economic Development Manager at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We're delighted to support this scheme which will add yet another reason to come and enjoy all Great Malvern has to offer."

Local artistic and community groups interested in using exhibition walk should email Great Malvern Association of Traders at to register their interest.
