Open Air Cinema in Malvern huge success

A shark attacked several people in Priory Park at the weekend - but fortunately it was on the big screen as more than 300 people packed into the venue to enjoy an outdoor showing of Jaws.

The event was held to mark the 40th anniversary of the Spielberg classic and was shown on a screen the size of a double decker bus on Sunday evening (27 September).

Malvern Hills District Council organised the event, along with Malvern Theatres, and following its success, plans are being developed for future outdoor cinema screenings next year.

Simon Smith, Economic Development Manager for Malvern Hills District Council, said: "The evening was a fantastic success with a huge turnout and was greatly received by the public. Everyone got into the spirit of the event and brought along chairs, blankets, picnics and some even brought blow up beds and wore onesies.

"It was a perfect evening with clear skies and even a super moon overhead. We are hoping to host other cinema screenings in the park next year and will keep the public informed of details in due course."
