Paralympic medallist to speak at Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards

A Paralympic bronze medallist is set to be the key note speaker at this year’s Malvern Hills District Community Sports Awards.

Worcestershire sprinter Katrina Hart will address the event being held on Thursday 14 July at Malvern College, which will honour the district’s sporting stars.

The 26-year-old was a key part of the GB Paralympics team that won bronze in the 4x100m T37 relay at London 2012 and won gold at the 2010 Commonwealth Games.

This year’s awards will feature 13 categories including Young Volunteer of the Year and Inclusive Project of the Year, but time is running out to make a nomination with the deadline fast approaching on Friday, 27 May.

The top two nominees in each category will be invited to the presentation evening which is being hosted by BBC Hereford and Worcester drive time presenter Andrew Easton, produced by Malvern based AN Event services and sponsored by UK Flood Barriers.

There will also be a performance from the Someone at the Door samba band and more than 200 guests and dignitaries are set to attend.

Cllr Phil Grove, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council which is organising the event, said: “There are so many talented and dedicated individuals, teams and clubs across the Malvern Hills district and we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognise and celebrate them. I urge people to nominate anyone who deserves to be rewarded at these prestigious awards.”

Anyone who knows an individual, team or club who fits into one of the categories should visit to nominate.
