Unable to vote on May 7? Then send someone else

Residents unable to vote on polling day but still wanting to have their say are being reminded they have less than two weeks left to register for a proxy vote.

Voters can nominate someone else to make their mark on the ballot paper for them - known as voting by proxy – if they will be unavailable on May 7.

A proxy vote can be applied for if you are unable to get to a polling station for any reason, are a British Citizen living overseas or a member of the Armed Forces.

You can choose anyone to be your proxy as long as they are eligible to vote.

The deadline to register for a proxy vote is 28 April at 5pm.

Visit to download the form or call the registration office on 01684 862200 for more information.
