District Centres
There are three principal towns in the Malvern Hills District -
Malvern (the largest of the trio), Tenbury Wells and
Upton-upon-Severn.
Malvern
Malvern is made up of a number of smaller centres including
Malvern Link, West Malvern, Barnards Green, Malvern Wells and Great
Malvern. The administrative and traditional heart of Malvern is
Great Malvern, which provides a variety of hotels, shops and
hospitality outlets catering for visitors from near and far.
Malvern owes much to its past. Elgar drew much of his inspiration
from the hills that dominate the landscape. Local research and
development resulted in the discovery of radar which tipped the
balance of World War Two decidedly in favour of the Allies.
The town has many enviable education establishments, including
the independent schools Malvern College and Malvern St James but
also some fine secondary schools (in the Chase and Dyson Perrins).
The Malvern Theatres complex attracts residents and visitors to
attend top productions - many prior or following their West end
run.
The 'Three Counties Showground' which hosts a number of events
such as The Malvern Spring Garden Show, Three Counties Show and
Malvern Autumn Show is also located on the outskirts of the
town.
