Quality in Tourism  and AA Accreditation Schemes

If you are a new tourism business or one that is not yet accredited under the Quality in Tourism Visit Britain or AA Scheme, there is support available in the form of a grant. Malvern Hills District Council is offering a 50% grant to businesses who wish to join either scheme, on the understanding that they agree to stay accredited for a minimum of two years.

After your property has been assessed and a grading has been awarded, contact Malcolm Salisbury on 01684 862483 for a grant application form. Fill in and return with copies of your invoice and grading confirmation letter and you will then be reimbursed up to 50% of your grading fee and joining fee up to a total maximum of £500.

Small Business Grant

MHDC are offering small business grants of up to £500 to new businesses in the district. Contact Joel Keller for more information 01684 862486.

Tourism Business Meetings

There will be two area tourism business meetings taking place in September. These short two hour sessions provide an opportunity to discuss the current situation at a local level, and pick up on points that were raised at the earlier meetings that took place in March. The meetings are split into north and south. The Teme Valley event will take place on Wednesday 28th September at Cob House, Worcester Road, Wichenford, Worcester, WR6 6YE starting at 10.30am. The Malvern meeting will be at The Dell House, Green Lane, Malvern Wells, WR14 4HU on Thursday 29th September starting at 1.00pm  

Tourism Forum

The main district Malvern Hills Tourism Forum will take place at Cottage in The Wood on Thursday 24th November starting at 10am. The event will be free to attend and will offer tourism businesses a chance to network and hear about future developments.

Destination Worcestershire

Destination Worcestershire are now part of the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Chamber and are the main marketing arm for tourism across the county. They provide a twice yearly visitor magazine, accommodation and attraction guides and a very comprehensive website which is linked to the national Visit Britain network.

The organisation also visits regional and national exhibitions and related trade shows, and provides our area with a strong profile in national press and television. Destination Worcestershire also support tourism businesses with advice on such issues such as sustainable tourism and how to market their businesses.

Destination Worcestershire is a membership organisation which provides different levels of support to tourism businesses. It is also the main point of contact to all the main tourism organisations such as Visit Britain and England.net. Businesses will be able to choose from a number of different membership options.
