Route to the Hills
Play Rangers and landscape artists, Pleydell
Smithyman, are inviting members of the public to a fun event in
Priory Park, aimed at promoting the ‘Route to the Hills’ open space
development project.
The event will take place in Priory Park on
Friday 4th June between 11am and 3 pm and will give
Malvern Hills residents the opportunity to hear more about the
project and to give their views on ideas proposed so far.
The aim of the project is to look at how the
public open space on the ‘Route to the Hills’, between Great
Malvern railway station and the Hills, can be developed to enhance
the environment and improve the infrastructure and play
facilities.
Malvern Hills District Council established the
‘Route to the Hills’ project group and provided preliminary funding
so that it could embark on a public consultation exercise.
The group has liaised with a range of different individuals and
organisations in order to come up with some initial ideas. This
event will help the project group to showcase those ideas and get
comprehensive feedback that will allow them to move forward with a
clear development plan. Once that plan is finalised, the
group will be able to submit bids for grants in excess of £250,000
from various external organisations including the Big Lottery.
Councillor Barbara Williams, Portfolio Holder
for Economic Development at MHDC says
“If you are interested in hearing more about
the different ways we can improve our open spaces and play
facilities and are keen to contribute ideas, then please do try and
make time to come to this event. This is an exciting project,
with huge potential, and it’s important to us that we gather
thoughts and ideas from as many of our residents and organisations
as possible”.
MHDC has been working on the project with key
organisations including the Malvern Civic Society, High Street
Great Malvern, Malvern Town Council and the Malvern Hills
Conservators. Following this June event, further information
about the Route to the Hills project will be available here on our
website.
