Sling Lane Playing Fields Consultation

Following the in principle approval by the Malvern Hills District Council’s Executive Committee, to lease the Sling Lane Playing Fields to Newtown Sports Junior Football Club on a 25th year lease. A second public consultation exercise will take place on Monday 6th September, 5.30pm-7.30pm in Priory Lodge Hall.

Cllr Barbara Williams, the Portfolio Holder responsible for improving the well-being of teenagers and older people said “the consultation exercise will use an interactive format that provides residents with the opportunity to understand all aspect of the Councils proposal and for the Council to listen to and understand the concerns of the local community and provide some answers their questions”.  

The Council’s fundamental objectives of the lease are to; protect the playing fields as public open space and for sport and recreation provision; protect the wild life area and the publics right for full and free access; enhance the playing pitch quality and encourage people to lead healthy and active lifestyles; support the development of a small changing facility and improve the access and provide off road parking.
