First ever Malvern Hills District Sports
Awards
This year Malvern Hills District Council, in
partnership with Worcestershire West School Sports Partnership will
be hosting its first ever District Sports Awards at Malvern College
on Thursday 16th December.
BBC Hereford and Worcester radio presenter,
Dave Bradley, will be the compere for the evening and local
sporting celebrities such as Tracey Moseley, Emily Lewis and
members from the Worcester Wolves Basketball team will be
presenting a number of the awards.
The district sports awards has been developed
to reward achievement and dedication in sport from coaches, clubs,
volunteers and performers over the past 12 months. The evening will
consist of demonstrations from local sports clubs, and the awarding
of 12 district sports awards and 5 school sports awards. There will
also be the presentations of The Joanna Brown Talented Athlete
Support Grant and the Club Support Grant.
The awards evening is sponsored by Malvern
based company 3SDL and the production on the evening is being
supported through Malvern based company An Event Services. A number
of other local businesses are supporting this event and will be
presenting a number of the awards.
Barbara Williams, Portfolio Holder for
Community and Economic Development said “This event will be a
fantastic opportunity to reward the hours of tireless work
individuals contribute to sport in the local community and to
acknowledge the success of athletes and teams. It is also really
great to see local businesses supporting this event in this tough
economic climate.”
Winners of these awards will go onto the
prestigious County Sports Awards in March 2011, which has been
developed by the Sports Partnership Herefordshire and
Worcestershire.
Application forms must be returned by Friday
5th November to David Knapper, Sports Development Officer, MHDC,
Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF. Application forms were sent to
local clubs, organisations and schools this week and these can also
be accessed at www.malvernhills.gov.uk/sport.
