Olympic effort to recycle
Malvern Hills District Council is calling on
residents across the district to make an Olympic effort to recycle
ahead of the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics Games.
The council’s Waste Prevention Team have
joined up with Worcestershire County Council's team to promote the
'Are you a recycling gold medalist?' campaign which aims to
encourage everyone to play their part in going for gold and
recycling more than ever before.
From the end of November residents are asked
to watch out for a leaflet coming through their letterboxes
entitled "Are you a recycling gold medalist?" which is designed to
remind residents in a fun way, what to recycle and provides ideas
for what to do with the items that are much harder to recycle.
Councillor Bronwen Behan with
Responsibility for Environmental Services at Malvern Hills District
Council said:
“We couldn’t resist giving our latest
recycling campaign an Olympic theme. London 2012 is all about
leaving a positive lasting legacy for future generations and
likewise our ability to recycle as much as we can now will result
in a better environment for future generations. "
Items which are suitable to be recycled
include; food tins, drink cans, aerosols and biscuit tins, waxed
cartons, plastic bottles and containers such as yoghurt pots and
margarine tubs, paper and all thicknesses of cardboard.
