Theatres and district council to work on joint
strategy
Malvern Theatres and Malvern Hills District Council have
announced plans to work closely in the coming months in order to
build on the existing benefits that the theatre brings to Malvern
and its surrounding areas.
Two new working parties have been set up with
the joint aims of boosting visitor numbers to the theatre as well
as increasing the impact the venue has on the local economy,
estimated at some £17 million in 2010-11. The working parties will
also seek to increase community engagement with the venue,
contribute to fundraising strategies and, in the longer term,
consider potential capital projects.
Chairman of Malvern Theatres, Robert
Maskrey said:
“If local attractions are to be preserved in
these difficult times then neither Malvern Theatres nor MHDC can
afford to stand alone. Each year, the theatre brings thousands of
visitors into the very heart of the district. Joint strategies can
help this number to increase”.
MHDC Leader, Councillor Philip Grove
said:
“The Malvern Theatres are vital to the local
economy and it’s our keen objective to make the most of this
fantastic asset for many years to come”.
