Haulage Contractor’s Depot appeal refused
A Planning Inspector has dismissed two recent
appeals against the continued use of the Old Timber Yard of Link
End Road, Corse Lawn as a haulage contractor’s vehicle depot.
The Inspector acknowledged that the main issue
in the case was the effect on early morning living conditions for
residents along Link End Road and that this was in particular
reference to noise and disturbance from the HGVs.
As a result the time period for the contractor
to comply with the Enforcement Notice issued was extended from one
month to six months to allow a reasonable amount of time for him to
relocate his business, taking in to consideration the current
economic climate.
David Hughes, portfolio holder for
Planning and Housing said: “ Whilst wishing to encourage
business growth the council considers the protection of the
amenity of its residents as a major issue and is pleased with
the decision found by the Inspector.” He also added “It is now
hoped that the proprietor of the business will find suitable
alternative premises within the district, in accordance with the
revised timeframe so as avoid the need for the Council to pursue
further formal enforcement action”.
