Sports stars shine at awards night
The Malvern Hills District Sports Awards
sponsored by 3SDL took place on Thursday 12th July at
Malvern College to reward and recognise outstanding sporting
achievement and commitment within the district over the past 12
months. The event was organised by Malvern Hills District Council
and was a glittering success. Over 150 people attended the awards
evening, which was supported by AN Event Services.
Dave Bradley, BBC Hereford & Worcester
radio presenter was compere for the evening and there was
entertainment including a cheerleading performance from the Dance
in Motion ‘Motionesque’ Cheerleaders and inspirational key note
speeches from Richard Brown of the Joanna Brown Trust and England
Canoeist Callie-Ann Halliday.
Richard Brown, from the Joanna Brown
Trust explained:
“The Malvern Hills District Sports Awards is a fantastic event that
the trust is delighted to be involved with. It’s great to see so
much talent within the Malvern Hills district and it makes the
trust so proud to see how much progress our talented athletes have
made over the 12 months. Callie-Ann is a fine example of this and
for her to now be a key note speaker at the awards speaks
volumes.”
12 awards were presented on the evening which
were sponsored by a number of local businesses and organisations.
There was also A ‘Special Recognition Award’ in memory of Samantha
Crumplin, who sadly lost her life to cancer in March 2012. Samantha
had committed a huge amount of time to Malvern Wanderer’s Football
Club and she was remembered on the evening.
