Applications sought for Malvern Hills District Sports
Awards
In July, Malvern Hills District Council will be hosting the
Malvern Hills District Sports Awards at Malvern College. The sports
awards have been developed to reward achievement and dedication in
sport from coaches, clubs, volunteers and performers over the past
12 months.
The council is looking for nominations
for the 12 awards up for grabs on the night, some of which include;
Senior Male Sports Personality of the Year, Coach of the Year, Club
of the Year and the Unsung Hero Award.
If you know of anyone locally who excels
at their sport or who dedicates a large proportion of their free
time to helping run a club or coaching young people and feel they
are worthy of an award then nominate them now.
BBC Hereford and Worcester radio presenter,
Dave Bradley, will be the compere for the awards evening which is
sponsored by Malvern based company 3SDL and the production on the
evening is being supported through Malvern based company An Event
Services. A number of other local businesses are supporting this
event and will be presenting a number of the awards along with
local sporting celebrities.
Barbara Williams, Portfolio Holder for
Community and Economic Development said “This event will
be a fantastic opportunity to reward the hours of tireless work
individuals contribute to sport in the local community and to
acknowledge the success of athletes and teams. It is also really
great to see local businesses supporting this event in this tough
economic climate.”
Application forms must be returned by Friday
1st June to David Knapper, Sport Inspired Co-ordinator,
MHDC, Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF. Application forms were sent
to local clubs, organisations and schools this week and these can
also be accessed at www.malvernhills.gov.uk/sport.
