Showcasing of Services for Older People in the Tenbury Wells
area
Older people, their families, friends and carers from Tenbury
Wells and the surrounding area are being invited to come along to a
special event to help them find out about the services available to
them.
The Showcasing of Services for Older People
Event, organised in partnership by NHS Worcestershire and Malvern
Hills District Council, will take place at the Regal in Tenbury on
Thursday October 18 from 11am to 2pm.
First Showcase event at Malvern Theatres in
2011
Over 18 organisations, including Age UK, NHS
Worcestershire, Worcestershire Careers Association and Act on
Energy, will be exhibiting on the day and people will also have an
opportunity to have a health MoT.
Melanie Whistance, the events organiser from
NHS Worcestershire, said: “Within Tenbury Wells and the surrounding
area there is a high proportion of people aged 50 years and over
and, as part of our commitment to them, we are keen to raise their
awareness and understanding of the services they can access”.
The free event is the second of its kind in
the Malvern Hills district and follows on from the highly
successful showcase held at Malvern Theatres last year, which
attracted more than 250 people and resulted in the exhibitors
receiving scores of referrals.
“It is also an opportunity for all
local health and social care professionals and members of the
voluntary and community sector to come along and get up-to-date
information about services on offer to older people locally and
make personal contact with the organisations exhibiting,” added
Melanie.
There will be a free tea/coffee and slice of cake on
arrival.
