Mobile Youth Unit Transfer
Application Process
The Mobile Youth Unit, a 24ft exhibition trailer, was purchased
in 1996 by Worcestershire County Council with a grant of £38,400
from Malvern Hills District Council to purchase and run a mobile
youth facility. The vehicle was subsequently decommissioned in
2005.
In 2007, a successful application to the Big Lottery Children’s
Play Fund resulted in the District Council acquiring the ownership
of the Mobile Youth Unit from the County Council. From 2007–2010,
using these funds, the District Council refurbished and ran the
Mobile Youth Unit project as a mobile youth club service in areas
where no facilities were available. The project provided young
people with a place to meet up and as a base to deliver activities.
During this time the project worked with 2193 young people aged 13
– 18 from across the Malvern Hills district.
Now that the project has finished, Malvern Hills District
Council is aiming to transfer the Mobile Youth Unit to an
organisation or individual that will make use of it as a resource
to benefit young people in the Malvern Hills district, in addition
to other complementary projects in other areas.
Interested parties should express an interest in the project
through the application process outlined below.
Who can make an application?
Applications will be considered from any
organisation or individual who submits a project proposal. Priority
will be given to projects that benefit young people within the
Malvern Hills
district but the project could also cover other areas as
appropriate. The project must last for a minimum of 2 years.
Malvern Hills District Council will transfer
ownership of the Mobile Youth Unit project to the successful
applicant, subject to an agreement to deliver the project outcomes
as detailed in Stage 2 of the application process.
