Social media
Social media sites
We use social media sites to help communicate with residents,
businesses and charities across the Malvern Hills district. It is
important we use social media to engage regularly with local people
in the region so we can keep you up to date and hear your
views.
Connect with us via Facebook and Twitter
for regular news updates and information about your local area.
Through social media sites you can keep informed on council
issues, ask questions and give us feedback. The information we put
on social media is public and open for everyone to access. You
don't have to be registered with the social media sites to find out
the basics, but you will need to register with them to interact
with us via social media. You can follow the links below to connect
with us through social media.
What is social media?
'Social media' can be understood as online communities, forums
or networks, which allow people to interact with each other
and share information and ideas. As a council we use social
media to connect with you, keeping you up to date on the latest
council matters and encourage participation and communication with
us.
What is Facebook?
Facebook is a popular social networking website launched
in 2004. Users of Facebook can add their friends and send them
messages, they can update their personal profiles to notify friends
about themselves and what they're up to. Additionally, users can
join networks organised by the workplace, schools, or colleges.
What is Twitter?
Twitter is a website which offers a social networking and
blogging service, enabling its users to send and read other users'
messages called tweets. Tweets are posts of up to 140 letters
displayed on the user's profile web page. Tweets are publicly
visible, however senders can restrict their messages to their
friends list. Users may subscribe to other tweets, this is known as
following and subscribers are known as followers.
Why does the council use social media?
