Meeting Your Needs (MYN)    

The 'Meeting Your Needs' is simply a community forum made up people and organisations who have specific needs when accessing Council services, and come together to bring these specific needs to the Councils attention.

The agreed aims of the forum are:

• Understanding the wider community,

• Raising the profile of issues faced by community groups,

• Using the Customer Contact Centre to “spread the word”,

• Better communication between community groups,

• Raising awareness of other services in the district,

• Making contacts with grass-root organisations,

• Working together; and 

• Blowing the myth that giving access to those with disabilities equates to wheelchair access.

Since being established in 2008 the MYN forum has made many important changes to services provided by the Council and its partners. Some of these sucesses include:

Listened to customers needs to improve the Disabled Swimming Classes provided by The Splash Leisure Centre,

Raised awareness and are working to address the “seclusion and isolation” experienced by the lesbian community in Malvern Hills,

Worked with Festival Housing to prioritise the provision of social housing those living in shared accommodation; and

Listened to customers to provide an audio translation of the Council’s resident newsletter; ‘View From The Hills’.
