Pest Control
Pest control treatment is no longer directly provided by the
District Council. However, the Council has developed good relations
with a number of local pest control contractors who it feels are
able to provide an excellent service at reasonable rates. Please
note however, that the Council is not able to recommend any
particular contractor and is therefore not responsible for any
arrangements entered into by its customers.
If you are looking to engage a pest control contractor, you may
like to consider one of the following local businesses. You may
also find information about these and other contractors in
Yellow Pages or via an Internet search
engine such as Google.
Bees
Occasionally, the Environment Team receives calls requesting
help with bees swarming on or near their property. In those
circumstances, the Malvern & Upton Beekeepers Association would
be willing to help by asking their members to arrange for the bees
to be collected. The Secretary and Swam Co-ordinator of the
association can be contacted at keren@kgbee.co.uk
Insect Identification
Staff in Customer and Environmental Services are sometimes able
to provide a pest identification service for insects and other
invertebrates together with advice on treatment and control. You
would need to provide a sample of the insects in a sealed
container.
In the event that it has not been possible to identify the type
of insects in the sample brought in to the Council, it may be
necessary to send your sample away for identification by an
external laboratory. In these cases, the Council would have to pass
on the charges from the laboratory to you (the charge is currently
around £55).
Please state clearly what course of action you would
like the Environmental Health team to take when you bring the
sample in for investigation.
