Malvern chosen to feature in Olympic Torch Relay film
Great Malvern was chosen to be included as a location in a short
film commissioned by LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the
Olympic Games) to get people excited about the Olympic Torch Relay
which is travelling across the country and coming through the
Malvern Hills district on 25th May 2012. Great Malvern
was one of only 6 locations to be featured in the promotional film.

A small film crew from the Prezel Film Company
descended on the town on Thursday 15th March to film a
short sequence to be included in the Olympic Torch Relay
promotional film.
Anna Brook a registered Olympic Local Leader,
and active member of GMAT (Great Malvern Association of Traders),
was approached by Prezel only 24 hours earlier. Working closely
with Malvern Hills District Council and the Chase High School the
necessary arrangements were made and the film was shot.
The film features students from the Chase High
School Orchestra rehearsing pieces that they are preparing to
feature on the day that the Torch Relay comes through
Malvern.
Anna Brook from the GMAT

“Having so much activity in the centre of town
really brought it home to those of us co-ordinating the
celebrations here just how much excitement the torch is generating.
As a Local Leader, it was fantastic for me to be able to support
the promotion of the torch relay, and as The Great Malvern
Association of Traders, we are so delighted to be welcoming the
torch into our lovely town centre, it is such a
privilege!”
Miss Harrison, music teacher from the
Chase High School said:
“All the students enjoyed the experience and
were excited to have the chance to take part, especially as only a
few places across the country were chosen for the publicity”
Councillor Barbara Williams,
said:
“We are thrilled that Great Malvern was chosen
as one of just six locations in the whole of the UK to host a film
crew shooting a short promotional film for the London Organising
Committee (LOCOG) Torch Relay”
