Supplementary Planning Guidance and Supplementary Planning
Documents
SPGs and SPDs
Supplementary guidance is produced to give more detail on the
application of policy, either for specific sites or on specific
subjects. SPD and SPGs do not have 'development plan' status
but are subject to public consultation and are 'material
considerations' in the determination of planning
applications. Older stye Supplematry Planning Guidance
(SPG) is gradually being replaced by newer style
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs).
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG)
Transitional arrangements introduced in 2004 allow the council
to 'save' policies and associated guidance until replaced by
new adopted policies and guidance. We currently have adopted
Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) on Affordable Housing and the
North Site Brief and an associated North Site Affordable Housing
Brief. These SPGs will continue to be used as guidance to
support relevant planning applications whilst relevant saved
policies are in place, or until the South Worcestershire
Development Plan or new Supplementary Planning Documents
replaces them.

for public services, including the provision of school facilities.
The district council, in partnership with Worcestershire County
Council, is keen to ensure that the provision of school facilities
keeps pace with new housing growth.

The purpose of this document is to provide detailed guidance
regarding the Malvern Community Hospital Site in Landsdowne
Crescent, Malvern.
Design guidance provides advice and information to promote a
high standard of design and a high quality and sustainable
environment. A' concept statement' is one form of design guidance
and sets out a simple, clear framework of the kind of place that
new development should create. It is a brief explanation of how
development on that site should contribute towards sustainable
development. Concept statements explain how the policies and
objectives of the Local Plan or Local Development Document should
apply to each specific site, in order to deliver the best possible
economic, social and environmental benefits. Concept statements are
less detailed than development briefs, focussing more on the
environmental assets of the site and the development
principles.
