South Worcestershire Development Plan - Public
Consultations
The South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy (SWJCS) and Site
Allocations Plan Development Plan Document have been joined
together into one plan. This will be called the South
Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP).
The three South Worcestershire Authorities are still working
together on a joint plan, but as a result of the recent changes to
the planning system, we have revised our approach and plan to move
forward reflecting the new Government agenda.
The SWDP is a planning framework that aims to ensure development
has a positive impact on the environment. It is being jointly
prepared by the three authorities of Malvern Hills, Wychavon and
Worcester City. It will form the heart of the new Local Development
Framework.
It considers the long term vision and objectives for South
Worcestershire and will contain the policies for delivering these
objectives in a planned and cohesive manner.
If you would like more information please visit the
South Worcestershire
Development Plan website and the recent press
statement "A vision for how South
Worcestershire will look in 2030".
The South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) is
visiting local communities from Monday, 26th September 2011 to
Friday, 18th November 2011 to gain your views and to allow you the
opportunity to help shape the future of South Worcestershire.
The consultation roadshow events will be visiting towns and
villages right across South Worcestershire covering places such as
Tenbury Wells in the North-west to Broadway in the South-east.
Meet the Planners… You can meet our planning officers
in person to discuss the proposals at anyone of our roadshows. The
roadshows will also include an exhibition giving detailed view of
the South Worcestershire Development Plan proposals, including
maps of
proposed development sites.
We need your help to spread the word… Tell
your friends, neighbours, work colleagues and relatives about
these events and help us to ensure as many people and communities
as possible have their say on the future of South
Worcestershire.

Previous Consultation Papers
An important consideration of the proposed SWDP strategy is the
substantial feedback we have received from the various public
consultation events. Please see below for information on the
consultation events we have undertaken to date.
South Worcestershire Development Plan. Town and Parish Council
Briefing & Workshop, Nov 2010
Town and parish councillors throughout the three South
Worcestershire districts attended a series of meetings over
November 2010, which were also attended by District and County
Councillors. The purpose of these events was
to update town and parish councils on the position of the South
Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy, following the change in
government from May 2010.
Following this event a
SWDP Workshop and Parish Plan Summaries Report was
published. This summary of meetings, workshop notes and
supporting technical background information including parish plan
summaries (Appendix 4) were sent to all town and parish councils in
December 2010. The circulated
information facilitated individual town and parish
councils to begin their own discussions with their communities and
feedback into the process of drafting the revised development plan
during the first half of 2011.
Site Allocations and Policies Development Plan
Document, September 2009 to May 2010
This information gathering exercise
looked to examine sites within the urban and rural areas
of South Worcestershire to accommodate new homes and associated
facilities such as employment, shopping, health, education,
community and open space. Earlier consultations focused on
`strategic’ larger locations for housing, jobs, and community
facilities as part of the (former) Joint Core Strategy. This time
round we concentrating on ‘smaller’ sites for these uses to feed
into the (former) Site Allocation Plan. A copy of the consultation
literature and consultation report can found using the

South Worcestershire Joint Core
Strategy Preferred
Options Document, September to October 2008
This document was the next stage
in the production of our Joint Core Strategy. It carried forward
and built on the responses with residents, businesses and other
interested parties on the ‘Issues and Options’ paper published
in November 2007. The purpose of that consultation was to identify,
with the help of those groups the main planning issues which will
face our area up to 2026 and to suggest options for addressing
these issues.
This document set out details of the
options upon which we welcomed your views. It was written
taking into account, feedback from continuous community
involvement; Assessment against national, regional and local
policies; Evidence gathered from a wide range of studies and
strategies; and The Sustainability Appraisal.
South Worcestershire Joint Core Strategy Issues
and Options Paper, November 2007
The aim of this Issues and Options paper was to formally
start the debate about the big planning issues facing South
Worcestershire which comprises the local authority areas of Malvern
Hills, Worcester City and Wychavon. It also suggests possible ways,
or options, for dealing with the issues. The paper was the
first step towards producing the Joint South Worcestershire
Development Plan to shape South Worcestershire up to the year
2026.
Following the Issues and Options
consultation the South Worcestershire authorities published an
Issues and Options Consultation Report. This
report sets out the methods of consultation undertaken and
provides a summarised account of comments received.
Furthermore the three authorities also published
Officers' responses to Written Submission on the Issues and Options
Consultation.
