Planning policy Planning policy

Planning policy provides guidelines on how development proposals or planning applications should be considered. The guidance comes from formal “development plans” adopted by Malvern Hills District Council, as well as from county level and national government policy. It also includes more informal or “supplementary” guidance.

  

 

Local Development Framework>            

 

The Local Development Framework is the term used to describe the collection of documents that will explain the council’s planning policies. It includes Local Development Documents, such as the South Worcestershire Development Plan, that when adopted, will replace the adopted Malvern Hills Local Plan. It also includes Supplementary Planning Documents.

   
 

Local Plan> 

 

The current Local Plan for the district is the Malvern Hills Local Plan which was adopted in 2006. It provides guidance on how planning proposals and applications in the Malvern Hills District area should be considered.

   
 

South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP)>

 

The South Worcestershire Development Plan is being produced by Malvern Hills, Worcester City and Wychavon district councils, to guide development in the area up to the year 2030. It will replace the existing Local Plans of these three councils when it is adopted.
