Draft Local List Supplementary Planning Document

Draft Local List Supplementary Planning Document - Consultation

Malvern Hills District Council is preparing a Local List Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for buildings/structures/historic designed landscapes of local interest..  This SPD will supplement the Policies in the Malvern Hills District Council Local Plan including Local Plan Policy DS3 - General Development Requirements.

The purpose of the SPD is to assist the local community in identifying local heritage assets by setting out the criteria and procedures by which such assets will be added to the Local List; the list itself will be a separate document.

In preparing the SPD, the council is required to consult interested parties on the draft SPD in line with the approach set out in its Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) - the consultation period is from Friday 31 January to 5pm Friday 14 March 2014.

Regulation 12(a) Statement of Public Participation

The council is interested to hear your views on the draft SPD.  Copies are also available at the council’s Customer Service Centres in Malvern, Tenbury Wells and Upton upon Severn Libraries:

  • Malvern Customer Service Centre, The Library, Graham Road, Great Malvern,

            Monday – Friday, 9.00am – 5.30pm;

  • Tenbury Wells Customer Service Centre, The Library, 24 Teme Street, Tenbury Wells

             Monday – Friday 9.30 am – 5.30 pm (closed on Wednesdays).

  • Upton-Upon-Severn Customer Service Centre, Upton Library, School Lane, Upton

             Monday, Wednesday & Friday 9:30 am – 5.30 pm (closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays).

If you would like to comment on the draft SPD, you should e-mail your comments to dev.plans@malvernhills.gov.uk.  Alternatively you may write to Development Plans & Conservation, Malvern Hills District Council, The Council House, Avenue Road, Malvern, WR14 3AF.  All comments received will be taken into account.

When the Local List SPD has been adopted the local community and council can decide which buildings/structures/historic designed landscapes in their area should be recognised as “Local Heritage Assets” and therefore worthy of inclusion in the “Local List”.  This will help to ensure their value is recognised when the council makes decisions affecting them.

If you have any difficulties with reading or obtaining copies of the relevant documents, please contact the Malvern Customer Contact Centre for assistance; tel: 01684 862151.
