Mrs Sheila Young first became a councillor in 2004 when she was locally elected to represent Alfrick and Leigh ward. However following her move to Malvern and the elections of 2007, she now represents the Pickersleigh ward. Although she only took on the Chairman role in May, this is not the first time Sheila has had a taste of what it is like hold the position as her husband John was Chairman of the Council back in 1993 - 1994 and she was his consort. Unfortunately her husband did not live to see her take on the role, but their two sons, two daughters in law and six grandchildren are very proud of what she has achieved. Incredibly passionate about her local community and the district, Sheila has spent the last 40 years supporting statutory and voluntary organisations which are determined to improve the lives of the residents in the area. It is no surprise that she has chosen to support Community Action Malvern and District, and Malvern Hills District Citizen Advice Bureau during her time as Council Chairman. The Chairman of the Council enjoys attending local community events around the district If you would like her to attend your event please see the Inviting the Chairman page/ |
