Poop Scoop Law - CLEAN IT UP !

The law states that failing to remove dog mess is an offence and that you must be responsible for clearing up after your dog, if you don't you could be fined up to £1,000 for failure to do so.

The simplest way of dealing with dog excrement is to scoop it up, put it in a plastic bag and place it in a dog waste / litter bin, or take it home and dispose of it (wrapped) in your domestic refuse. It is essential that excrement is thoroughly wrapped before disposal.

• The Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 2006 covers the whole of the Malvern Hills District.
• It requires dog owners or persons in charge to clean up their dog's excreta
• It applies to all land to which the public have access whether private or public and whether access is free or by payment.

There are some types of land which are exempt

• Agricultural and woodland
• Marshland moor or heath
• Common land - however, on village greens and most playing fields it must be cleaned up
• Parts of the Malvern Conservators land (The Hills and rural areas)
• The highway and land alongside where the speed limit is greater than 40mph

The Council responds to complaints concerning animal fouling. The Council's Dog Warden Service also offers education to dog owners who fail to clean up after their dogs
