A new school and community sports centre was unveiled to the public recently amid the excitement of a formal ceremony attended by school staff, students, civic dignitaries, relevant project staff, and special guests. Former professional soccer star Andy Sinton, above, was on hand to unveil a plaque dedicated to the official opening, whereas the ribbon cutting formalities fell to David Griffin, Headteacher, Cllr John Smith, Worcestershire County Council, and Cllr Clive Smith, Malvern Hills District Council, shown below.

The £1.4m scheme was completed in partnership between the School, County Council, and District Council, and will be made available to serve both the school and community alike. The centre comprises of a Sports hall, Gymnasium, Fitness Suite, Changing Rooms, Office, Foyer, Stores, Car Park, and Floodlit Outdoor Tennis Courts, which was funded in the main with the aid of a £868,000 New Opportunities Fund grant.
Dave Hayward from Worcestershire County Council’s Property Services Unit designed the project, with the contractors being Interclass Ltd.
School’s Accommodation Services, Bosko Medakovic stated, ‘This new facility goes a very long way to providing the students and community with a state of the art local sports venue, which will no doubt help us produce more sporting stars of the future’.

The new entrance and internal works at Dines Green Primary are complete.
The works at the school focused on the creation of a new entrance (shown above). This has provided the school with a new focus and avoided the need for visitors and children to walk through the school grounds to get to the entrance. This new entrance has a secure lobby, offices for administration staff and the Headteacher, as well as a disabled toilet.
Additional works within the school have created a new staff room and reprographics room, improved library facilities, covered outdoor space (see below) and better circulation.

The £550,000 funding for this project was provided by the DfES following a successful Targeted Bid by Worcestershire County Council in 2004, as well as contributions from Worcestershire Council and the school's Devolved Formula Capital. The architect for the scheme was Stainburn Taylor and Michael Reardon and the contractor was EG Carters. The project was supported by members of the School's Accommodation Service and behalf of the client Worcestershire County Council.
