Barriers

Bewdley

The Flood defences at Bewdley stretch over 800 metres along the quayside, and compromises 620 metres of demountable defences and 200 metres of permanent defence wall. The barriers take approximately 11 hours to erect.

Upton-Upon-Severn

The temporary pallet barriers in Upton-Upon-Severn compromise an A-frame, overlain with panels and covered with an impermeable liner. As the floodwaters rise, a downward pressure is applied to the A-frame, which keep sit in place. The barrier is has 100 metre stretch at 1.8 metres high, with the rest at 1.2 metres high. Specialised corner pieces and groundwork’s are also required to complete the defence.The barriers take approximately 12 hours to erect.

Worcester

The temporary pallet barriers in Worcester are the same as the A-frame used in Upton-upon-Severn. 280 metres of barrier is used between the riverbank and Hylton Road upstream of Sabrina Bridge.
