The Summer Reading Challenge 2008

When does it start?

The Summer Reading Challenge this year is Team Read and it runs from Monday 21st July - Saturday 27th September 2008 at all libraries and on all mobile libraries during normal opening hours. Please be advised that we have a limited number of packs available so register at your local library as soon as you can after the start date.

Who can take part?

Team Read is for children aged 4-11 year olds. It's your chance to take up a challenge that will stretch you to the max! You need to be a member of the library service to take part.

What do you have to do?

When you join Team Read you will receive an amazing 'moving image' membership card. Read your way through the bronze and silver levels to collect a fold-out poster of Team Read stadium, stickers and other goodies! If you read 6 books and finish the race you'll receive a cool certificate and an invitation to a special ceremony in the autumn to get a gold medal (see individual libraries for dates)! There is a special Team Read website www.teamread.co.uk with loads of author blogs, games and activities - you can look from home or from the library (you will need your parent's permission).

Extreme Team Read for young people aged 11-12 year olds

For the first time this year we are running Extreme Team Read for older readers! Register at the library to pick up a hologram credit card with a personal keycode to access the exclusive website zone.

Bookstart Book Crawl for 0-4 year olds

Pre-school children can also join in the summer fun! Each time your child borrows books on their own library ticket and returns them to the library, we will give them a special sticker. When they have collected 4 stickers they will receive a brilliant Team Read Certificate
