The November 2006 Citizens' Panel Survey covers four different topics. The topics are:

  • Communications
  • The Regional Spatial Strategy
  • Bus Priority Schemes
  • Local Education Facilities

In the Communications section, we asked panellists whether they recall receiving our resident’s magazine, Word on Worcestershire, earlier on in the year. We asked them if they found the magazine useful and what they would like to see included in the publication in the future.

The Regional Spatial Strategy guides the spatial development of the West Midlands until 2026, and provides a framework for planning at the local level, including the amount and distribution of new housing in Worcestershire. The Strategy is currently under partial review by the West Midlands Regional Assembly, and we asked panellists what they thought about some of the issues raised in the review. The final version of the RSS will have very significant implications for the future of Worcestershire which is why it was so important to ask panellists their opinion.

Worcestershire County Council is considering introducing Bus Priority Schemes at a number of locations across the County; these schemes are designed to protect buses from the effects of traffic congestion. We asked panellists how frequently they use the bus service and whether they think this will change after the introduction of bus priority schemes.

In the section on Local Education Facilities we asked panellists what they thought about a policy which states that Worcestershire County Council can ask housing developers for contributions towards the provision of education facilities required as a result of their developments.

The survey period runs from mid November to mid December.
