Please note we are running a reduced service from the 1st floor gallery, whilst essential maintenance work is carried out in the library. The Library will open as normal from Monday 5th January 2009 when you are welcome to join us for free tea/coffee and biscuits. In the meantime, a lift is available from the ground floor to the 1st floor gallery, please note however this will only take a standard sized wheelchair. The following services are not available during this period: Internet access & public computers, toilet facilities, Vending Machine, Bounce & Rhyme, Storytime, Jigsaw Swaps, Microfilm Reader, Jobpoint - please note Jobcentreplus will be open as normal on the 1st floor.
Stourport Library is part of the library service provided by Worcestershire County Council and is housed on the ground floor of a pleasant, airy and comfortable building.

The Library offers a lending service of books, sound recordings (compact discs and cassettes) and DVDs. There is a small reference collection and staff are always happy to assist with online information searches. The local history collection concentrates on the history of Stourport and the immediate local area.
There is material on microfiche and microfilm to help with family research.
The library is on the ground floor of the building, with a selection of fiction and non-fiction books on a variety of subjects. The whole County Library's resources are available through the request service. Daily and weekly newspapers and some periodicals are taken, with back copies of magazines for borrowing.
Community information is available for Stourport as well as access to a wider range of information through the public screens showing the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) and the Worcestershire Hub. Public Internet access is available free of charge.
The enquiry desk is staffed by experienced staff who are there to help you. There is a coin-operated photocopier for public use and a fax service.
The Librarians are happy to welcome groups to the library for a guided visit and
talk, or will give talks outside the library to societies, clubs and other organisations.

of Wyre Forest Historical Research Group. Admission by ticket only. Tickets £1.00 each to

Mobile
Library Service
Stourport Library is the base for a mobile library serving the rural villages and small towns in the area The Mobile Library Service webpage gives dates and locations for all the mobile libraries serving rural Worcestershire.
Children's Activities
There are a number of Children's Events being held in the library
over the school holidays.
Pre-school storytime takes place during term time on a Thursday
between 10.30 and 11.00 am.
Our Homework Club meets on a Monday and Thursday between
4 and 5pm during term time.
Canal Collection
Stourport has a rich history of living and working on the canal. The town grew up where the Worcestershire/Staffordshire canal enters the River Severn through a series of locks. The canals are very popular with both holiday-makers and local residents. There are a number of local companies offering boat rides. The library has a collection of books and journals on the canals.
Exhibition Room
Please ask the Community Library Manager for further details if you are interested in using the exhibition room. Normal opening hours apply unless another event is being held in the gallery space. Please telephone prior to making a specific journey.
Access to the Upper Floor and the Gallery - Because of the small size of the lift, access is limited for some disabled users, particularly those in the larger motorised wheelchairs which will not fit inside the lift.
Readers' Group
Stourport Library Readers Group is not currently running but we plan to be back later in the year. Any enquiries or suggestions for the new programme are welcome, please contact the library managers.

Computer Taster Sessions - These are free and usually last half
an hour with one to one tuition. Please contact the Library for more information and to book your
place.

Jobpoint - a job point is situated in the library on the ground floor. On the first floor is the Job Centre Plus office for Stourport. This is open Tuesday and Thursdays between 9.30 am- 1.00 pm.
