Council secures Langland Stadium for sport and community benefit
A new era for Malvern Town Football Club CIC can finally push on following the official hand over of Langland Stadium by Malvern Hills District Council. MHDC owners of the land, handed over Langland Stadium to Malvern Town Football Club CIC on a short term lease with the option to extend.
Cllr. Phil Grove, MHDC Portfolio Holder with responsibility for leisure said: "The completion of the handover and lease are the culmination of 18 months of joint working between the club and the council that has resulted in a ‘win win' outcome for the football community and the wider community of the Pickersleigh ward. This also reflects that the council is committed to delivering against its Sport and Leisure Strategy."
Chris Pinder, Managing Director of Malvern Town Football Club said "Because of the strong partnership between Malvern Town Football Club CIC and Malvern Hills District Council, the club and surrounding communities stand to benefit from the Langland Stadium facility for years to come. With a lease in place, we will be more likely to generate further sponsorship and financial support for the club from more businesses and private investors. We fully intend to continue to invest in the stadium in order to improve its facilities and make the venue appealing to the local community at large, not just sport enthusiasts and football fans."
During the short term lease the football club will be working closely with the district council to develop a comprehensive Business and Community Development Plan. Once agreed, the council's intends to grant a long term lease to help secure the facility and club's long term future.
