Council staff donate emergency food to help local people in crisis

Staff at Malvern Hills District Council have recently donated 16.16kg of food and £60 to Malvern Hills Foodbank.

The donation was recently handed over after staff had been busy gathering donations of food throughout December and raising money from their annual Christmas quiz.

Malvern Hills Foodbank provides emergency food parcels for people experiencing a temporary financial crisis.

The food donated is sorted by volunteers according to type and best before date, it is then stored on shelves ready for packing.

Anne Garner, Treasurer at Malvern Hills Foodbank said: “We were so pleased to receive the donation, it was extremely busy over the Christmas period and the support was greatly appreciated.”

Jack Hegarty, Chief Executive at Malvern Hills District Council said: “Christmas is a time of giving, and we were very proud of our staff who joined together to donate food and money throughout December to help towards this very worthy cause.”
