Don’t lose your voice, register to vote
Residents are being warned time is running out to ensure they are registered to vote in the upcoming General Election.
The deadline for registration is Monday, 22 May 2017. Anyone who has not applied by that date will lose their right to have their say in who becomes the next MP for West Worcestershire when the nation goes to the polls on Thursday, 8 June 2017.
Registering to vote is easy and can be done in just a few minutes online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or call the Electoral Services team at Malvern Hills District Council on 01684 862200 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Anyone wanting to vote by post is reminded the deadline for applications is 5pm on Tuesday, 23 May 2017. Those planning to send someone else to vote on their behalf – known as voting by proxy – have until 31 May at 5pm to submit their completed paperwork.
Matthew Box, Electoral Services Manager for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Anyone not yet registered to vote should do so as soon as possible in order for them to be able to have their say on issues that affect their lives by voting on 8 June.
“With the introduction of online registration it is now easier than ever to make sure you are registered in time.”
