Dr Bike event offers free security protection

Residents are being urged to attend a free Dr Bike event to get their bikes marked with its own unique fingerprint.

The event, organised by Malvern Hills District Council, takes place on Wednesday 14 June from 10:00am -12:30pm, at The Council Chamber in Great Malvern.

The event aims to help prevent bike loss or theft by offering protection with unique security marking that ensures Police will be able to trace a bike back if it is stolen and recovered.

There will also be free MOT’s on offer to ensure bikes are safe to ride.

Dr Bike day forms part of National Bike Week, taking place from 10 – 18 June, which aims to promote cycling, and demonstrate the social, health and environmental benefits.

Rachel Vann, health and wellbeing officer from Malvern Hills District Council said: “This event is a great opportunity for residents to protect their bike and make sure it is in perfect working order ready for those summer outings. Bike mechanics will check brakes, tyres, gears and general safety of the bike. They will also be on hand to give advice and it is all free, so I would highly recommend anyone to pop along with their bike.”
