First Birthday celebrations for Malvern Vale Community Centre

The new community centre on the Malvern Vale housing development is celebrating its first birthday with a number of events to mark the occasion.
The Community Centre opened its doors on 28 January 2013.  Since then it has developed a fantastic programme of opportunities offering local residents and those from the surrounding area a wide range of activities including baby sensory classes, yoga, boxfit and camera clubs, seasonal events and quiz nights.
Councillor Phil Grove, Portfolio Holder for Community Services at MHDC says:
"This is a fantastic facility which has come about through excellent partnership working and it's been a pleasure working with our partners on such an exciting project.
The centre is really versatile and serves as a hub for the whole community.  Events have been held at the centre throughout the year and already showed that residents and people from the neighbouring area are thrilled to have this sort of facility on their doorstep."
Celebrations began on Tuesday with a gathering of some of the key partners who worked together on the development and will culminate in a Birthday Bonanza on Saturday 15 February from 12-2pm at the Community Centre. It is a free event. Everyone is invited and this is a great opportunity for people who don't know the centre to come along and have a look. There will be a range of stalls, cake and refreshments, a bouncy castle, a face painter and it will be great fun for all the family.
Duncan Berry Chief Executive for the YMCA who manage the Community Centre on behalf of the council says:
"It's been exciting working with Malvern Hills District Council and our other partners over the past year to strengthen the YMCA's presence in Malvern. Its very rewarding to be able to open the doors of such a first class facility to the local community and offer them such a wide range of opportunities right on their doorstep"
