Local food business wins gold standard
Go-Gourmet based at Bransford Garage has achieved gold standard in the Healthier Choices Food Award scheme.
The Healthier Choices Food Award scheme, which is run by Worcestershire Regulatory Services, is open only to those businesses – like Go-Gourmet – that have the highest possible five-star food hygiene rating.
The award recognises Worcestershire food businesses that cater for people by offering them a variety of healthy and flexible options, with a special Gold Award for businesses that also use food that has been grown or produced nearby.
Go-Gourmet, owned by Chris Powell and Anne Martinus, specialise in home cooked snacks and meals to takeaway, made using local, top quality ingredients.
They offer home-made low calorie meal options that show the number of calories so that customers can make an informed choice. They also sell products and foods made by other local businesses.
Owner Chris Powell said: “The award compliments our commitment towards calorie controlled, take away meals and the use of local produce in our popular home-made hot and cold food to go”.
Cllr Phil Grove, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council said: “We are really proud and delighted to have an award winning business in the district. Healthy eating plays such an important role in our lives and it is important for businesses to help promote fresh food and healthy eating. Go-Gourmet is proving to be really popular with customers, especially those wanting to lose weight”.
