New Year New You with Sportivate
Discounted sports sessions are on offer to young people across the district to help them get fit in 2016.
Malvern Hills District Council has joined forces with Sports Partnership Herefordshire and Worcestershire to offer reduced cost junior personal training and table tennis sessions to 14 to 25-years-old.
The discounted sessions are part of the Sportivate scheme, which is run by Sport England. It gives young people the chance to try a new sport by offering six sessions of subsidised coaching to those who are not normally active.
The junior personal training sessions are being run by Freedom Leisure, which operates the council’s leisure centres, and are open to 14 to 18-year-olds. They take place at Sport Dyson Perrins for six weeks starting on Monday, 18 January. Sessions are available between 3pm and 4pm and 4pm and 5pm and the course costs £10.
Malvern Table Tennis Club is running the table tennis course for anyone aged 11 to 25, starting on Sunday, 10 January between 8pm and 9.15pm at Dyson Perrins school assembly hall. The six week course costs £12. Anyone who completes all six lessons will receive a table tennis bat worth up to £20.
Cllr Phil Grove, Leader of Malvern Hills District Council, said: “Sportivate is an affordable way for young people to try new sports and keep fit. Whether you choose to take up table tennis or receive personal training sessions, you will learn new skills and have fun in a relaxed and social atmosphere.”
