Volunteers needed at Upton TIC

A call for volunteers has gone up to ensure the Upton Tourist Information and Heritage Centre can continue to provide a high quality service to visitors to the town.

Volunteers need to be interested in meeting and helping people, have a few hours free each week and have a good knowledge of the Upton area and its history - although full training will be provided.

Simon Smith, Economic Development Manager at MHDC said "We recently upgraded Upton Tourist Information and Heritage Centre in the iconic Pepperpot. It is open throughout the year to welcome visitors to the town and provide a wealth of information on the areas attractions, events, accommodation and its fascinating history. The centre has regular staff but also needs additional volunteers to support opening the centre a few hours each week. We are particularly keen to find volunteers who would be available to support opening on a Saturday and Sunday."

Volunteers need to provide a warm welcome to visitors as well as offering information and advice on the area, the history of the building and selling gifts.

Those interested in heritage and the local area that would like to become part of the volunteer team need to call the centre on 01684 594200, or pop in for a chat.
