Women’s cycling programme will transform you from couch to 50k
Women are being encouraged to set the wheels in motion and join a new women’s cycling initiative to get them from couch to 50k.
The fun, social cycling group is for beginners and starts on Tuesday 2 May, 6.30pm - 8.30pm, at Sport Dyson Perrins, Malvern.
The initiative has been set up by Malvern Hills District Council, and aims to help people lead a more active lifestyle and improve fitness and well-being.
The programme will incorporate cycling proficiency to help build confidence on the road and improve cycle skills. Instructor Rachel Vann will also be providing advice and support to help people progress to an improved level of fitness, with an opportunity to join a local women’s social cycling group too.
The programme will run for ten weeks and costs £20 per person.
Couch to 50k is a National Initiative led by British Cycling, with a training plan that has been designed for anyone wanting to get fit and start cycling, even if they are currently inactive.
Rachel Vann, Physical Activity and Well Being Officer at Malvern Hills District Council said: “This course is perfect for a cycling novice and I’m really looking forward to getting started and meeting new people.
“It is a great programme for women who would like to get back into cycling or get into cycling for the first time, it also gives the opportunity to meet new people and feel good”.
