Getting Involved

Volunteering

Do you want to develop new skills or further your interest in archives or archaeology? By volunteering at the Worcestershire Archive and Archaeology Service you can:

  • Increase your knowledge of and skills in archive and archaeology work
  • Develop new skills, such as IT, reading maps, reading old handwriting and research skills
  • Be part of a team of enthusiastic volunteers and meet new people
  • Strengthen your CV
  • Make a valuable contribution to the work of the Archive and Archaeology Service

At present we have a full complement of volunteers and are not able to accept any more requests, but you can download a list of the types of projects that we run and what's involved (PDF 44 KB).

Following our move to The Hive we are in the process of developing additional volunteer projects, and these will be available by the end of 2013.  In the meantime if you want to fill in a volunteer registration form we would be very happy to keep your name on a waiting list and will contact you as new projects become available - form download are available below.

Getting Involved with Archive and Archaeology services

Anyone can volunteer and no previous experience is required as we will provide full training for the project you will undertake.   Times are arranged to suit you and us. Even if you are working, we can accommodate.
If you are interested and want more information about what to do next please complete the volunteer registration form (see links above) and email it to Dr Lisa Snook at archive@worcestershire.gov.uk), alternatively it can be posted to The Hive.  We will then contact you to discuss which of our projects would best suit you.
