Catshill Community Library Opens
Catshill Community Library opened in its new location at
Catshill Middle school on Tuesday, April 16.
View photographs from the opening of the new
Catshill Community Library.
The old library in Barley Mow Lane closed it's
doors on Friday 12th April and staff and volunteers have moved
stock to the new location at The Community Room at the Middle
School in Meadow Road. This project has been made possible by the
Library and Learning Service working closely with the school, local
member and Parish Council and with local volunteers who will be
providing excellent customer support to help sustain this service
in the heart of the community.
A large selection of up to date stock has been
carefully selected including children and young peoples books
selected by the children at the school on a visit to our suppliers.
Facilities are much improved with toilets and a hot drinks vending
machine. The room is bright and provides a calm and inspirational
environment to use computers, select your books and DVD's, sit
quietly and read or study or chat with friendly staff and local
volunteers. Free wifi is available. A continuing programme of
family friendly events and activities will be run including adult
learning classes for personal improvement and pleasure.
The Library is accessed at the far end of the
main staff car park and is signed from the main road. There is
disabled parking next to the room but we would kindly request
visitors use The Meadow car park during school times on the
opposite side of the road.
Kathy Kirk, Worcestershire County Council's
Libraries and Learning Manager, said
"This is an exciting time of
change for Catshill Library. I am sure library users and residents
will see the benefits of this brand new community library and
continue to enjoy its services."
