We are delighted to offer a range of running programmes that will suit lots of different abilities including complete beginners on our Walk2Run programme to those looking to improve their distance of up to 10km.  We also run a weekly stretch and flex and strength programme designed specifically for runners. 

All of our small group running sessions comply with Government guidelines and England Athletics. They are limited to twelve participants and will adhere to social distancing guidelines, as well as actively encourage regular hand washing. They are professionally led and coached by our Physical Activity and Well Being Officer, Rachel Nicholls who is a UKA England Athletics Leader in Running Fitness.

Please note, due to the announcement of a national lockdown on 4 January 2021, the programmes will be virtual and held over Zoom.

Programmes on offer are:

Walk2Run

This is a new run/walk programme which is aimed at complete beginners, so if you have never run or are a returning runner then this programme is perfect for you.  It’s 12 weeks long and aims to gradually build you up to running for 40 mins. 

The course aims to help build your running confidence, stamina and fitness, as well as helping you to find your chatty run/walk pace which will enable you to enjoy it.  Our style is fun, social and informal so that everyone feels comfortable and supported with clear progression each week.

You will complete three run/walks each week and Rachel will be on hand to provide free training, advice and support throughout. You will also gain on-going support from each other via our WhatsApp group. At the end of the course we will run a local parkrun together and this course also includes a well earned medal.

The course costs just £25

New Year, New You, Running Goals programme

This is a new VIRTUAL 8 week tailored running programme and will take place on Zoom each week. 

This group is designed for those who can already run for 30-40 mins non-stop and would like to find out more about becoming a chatty runner.  It might be that you want to improve your non-stop running for 40 mins, build up to 10km or run a faster 5km, but it might also be simply that you’ve lost your mojo and looking for some support to help you get back on track.  As a group we will tailor the goals specifically for you and we will meet each week to set your homework.  Ideally you will be able to run 2-3 times a week. 

The course costs just £20

Run Further

Run Further (10 week programme) – aimed at those who have completed the Couch to 5km programme. This is a progressive 10 week course that focusses on building up your fitness and stamina from 5-10km. Ultimately running a 10km run.

There are three runs to complete each week. On the small group runs and supported virtual programme you will be fully supported by Rachel, who will also be on hand to provide free training, advice and support throughout. You will also gain on-going support from each other, as well as opportunities to buddy up with other people on the course.  At the end of the programme we will do a 10km run together. On the unsupported virtual programme we will send you all 10 weeks of videos for you to complete the course in your own time.

Stretch and Flex

This is a new VIRTUAL 4 week programme aimed at runners and will take place on Zoom each week.  We will also be recording each week, so don’t worry if you miss it.    

This virtual group is designed for those who are looking to find ways to help improve their mobility and flexibility.  Each block of 4 weeks we will focus on a different area of the body and give you exercises to help this area to become more mobile and flexible. 

The course costs just £13 (or £3.50 drop in).

Strength walking workout

This is a new 4 week walking programme with strength exercises built in along the way which are specifically designed to help improve your running form and stamina.  The focus is very much on fun and informal.
