Couch to 50km - Cycling Course (women only)
Malvern Hills District Council is delivering a women only Couch to 50km programme aiming to help people lead a more active lifestyle and improve fitness and well-being through cycling.
The 8-10 week programme will incorporate cycling proficiency (known as Bikeability) to help build individual’s confidence of cycling on the road, improve cycle skills as well as build confidence of riding in a group, improve fitness and stamina. Instructor, Rachel Vann will also be providing advice and support to help people progress to the overall 50km ride.
The course costs just £35 per person, which includes cycling proficiency and graduation certificate. A graduation ride will take place on a Sunday at the end of the 8-10 weeks.
This course is suitable for anyone who perhaps hasn’t ridden since they were a teenager or simply hasn’t ridden for a while. You might also have limited confidence of riding a bike, especially on the road. We recommend either a mountain bike or hybrid bike for this course.
Future course dates
- Tuesday 12 May 2020, 6.30pm - 8pm Graduation ride Sunday 19 July 2020.
Week one will commence from Sport Dyson Perrins and continue from Victoria Park and Hanley Swan for the remainder of the course.
- Wednesday 13 May 2020, 9.30am - 11am (meet at Upton Rugby Club) – graduation Sunday 26 July 2020.
How to book (Booking essential)
There are only eight places available per course, with a minimum of five people for the course to run. If for any reason a course cannot be run then any booked participant will be given the option of a full refund or transfer to a future course. You must also be able to commit to the full 8-10 week programme and the graduation ride.
