Register of Members’ Interests
Within 28 days of acceptance of office you must complete and sign a declaration of your interests. Failure to do so is a potential criminal offence, it also means you will not be able to attend meetings of the Council as a Councillor, and can be reported for a breach of the Code of Conduct.
The Register of Interests is a publicly available document of interests that may inform your approach to particular issues or give rise to a conflict of interest. It encourages openness and allows others to consider whether or not a councillor may have a conflict of interest. You will need to declare any relevant interests at meetings of the Council and its Committees as well as having declared it on the Register.
If you are unsure of whether you need to declare an interest on the Register, contact Meesha Patel, Monitoring Officer email@example.com
