If you are looking for an affordable home to buy or rent, then you can view all of the social housing options across Worcestershire on the Home Choice Plus website.
The scheme allows you to search and bid for the most suitable properties that you are eligible for and that meets the needs of you and your family. Properties that are available are advertised weekly.
Apply for housing
Start your application by visiting the Home Choice Plus website:
Some of the available housing options include:
- Shared ownership - own a share of a property, where you buy a part and pay rent on the other part which you don't own
- Social housing - if you are in particular need or on a low income, homes are available from the government or non-profit organisations
- Sheltered housing - if you are over 55 and want to live in self-contained accommodation which you can buy or rent, and receive support and assistance if required
- Supported housing - housing and sometimes care services are provided to you if you are in need, for example, health needs, homeless, victims of domestic abuse and mental illness
- Private rented - if you want to rent housing that is owned by a private individual or company, rather than a public housing authority (See our Malvern Hills Lettings page).
*We do not own housing stock, the affordable housing in our area is owned and managed by Registered Providers.

Draft Allocations Policy – Consultation
We are currently reviewing the Allocations Policy as part of a South Worcestershire Partnership. We are proposing some changes to the way properties are allocated and how people will access the housing register. This consultation will remain open until the 15th May. Those applicants currently registered on the housing register will receive a letter or email inviting them to complete a survey about the proposed changes.
If you have any worries or concerns about what this might mean for you, please contact the Housing Team on 01386 565 000 to discuss further.

What changes are the Council making and how will this affect me?
Malvern Hills District Council are working with South Worcestershire to review our current Allocations Policy. This means there may be some changes around how properties are allocated and how people will access the register. We will consult with you on any proposed changes at the earliest possible opportunity. If you have any worries or concerns about what this might mean for you, please contact the Housing Team on 01386 565 000 to discuss further.
What will my banding be and how long will I wait for a property?
Bandings are available in the following:
- Gold Plus
- Silver Plus
- Bronze Plus
- Reduced Priority
Who will be my Landlord and how will they allocate me a property?
Malvern Hills District Council does not own any stock, but we work with local registered providers who own and manage stock within our district.
Housing Associations allocate customers based on a shortlist, taking in to consideration people’s personal circumstances and their banding. Housing Associations endeavour to find the right property for the right household and will sometimes be unable to provide housing if you have rent arrears or if you have participated in anti-social behaviour in your previous property.
We work with all of these Housing Associations who provide properties for us in our area:
