New Couch to 2km course encourages youngsters to get active
A new four-week ‘Couch to 2km’ programme is set to encourage children across the Malvern Hills district to get active through running.
At just £15, the course aims to motivate children aged 7 to 11 to build fitness, stamina and confidence in a social environment.
Accompanied by a parent or guardian, the children will meet at The Cob House Country Park in Wichenford every Tuesday at 2.15 to 3.15pm starting from 23 July.
The course has been organised by Malvern Hills District Council working in partnership with Malvern Triathlon Club and will be led by experienced run leaders.
Rachel Vann, Physical Activity and Well-Being Officer for Malvern Hills District Council, said: “The ‘Couch to 2km’ is a great way to get kids out of the house and to be active during the summer holidays. It is also aimed at those who are slightly less active helping them to feel more confident about running, with all sessions involving a series of games and fun activities. We’re looking forward to offering this new programme started”.
There are only 12 places available with a minimum number of five people for it to run. Note that places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
