Photos celebrating the Malvern Hills district now on display

A selection of photographs celebrating the Malvern Hills district are now being showcased at Great Malvern Priory.

The exhibition, which will run until 16 December, displays the winning photos chosen from a competition held as part of the district's second annual Malvern Enviro Week.

Organised by Malvern Hills District Council, the week-long event in October encouraged residents to think twice about their impact on the environment through workshops, nature walks, a Greener Living Fair and more.

Budding photographers were invited to share their best photos of the district via email or on social media with the caption #MalvernEnviroWeek2019.

More than 160 photos were submitted, ranging from stunning landscapes and rich heritage to wildlife and people enjoying the environment.

The top ten photographs were then chosen by a panel of judges at the Council House and feature sunsets, people and their dogs enjoying the hills, plus a WWII aircraft from the Battle of Britain gracing the skies over the Malvern Hills.

A number of highly commended photos will also be included in the exhibition in polaroid format.

Claire Vaughan, Community Engagement Officer at Malvern Hills District Council, said: "We had a brilliant response to our photo competition this year and it was an extremely tough decision to choose just ten photographs. It's lovely to see the wonderful images celebrating our beautiful district and to hear the stories behind them. Thank you to Great Malvern Priory for exhibiting these lovely images and a huge congratulations to our winners Craig, Georgina, James, Julie, Kirsty, Lucasz, Maggie, Sarah and Stuart."

The exhibition will run until 16 December at Great Malvern Priory.
